Simultaneously measuring two ultrashort laser pulses on a single-shot using double-blind frequency-resolved optical gating

چکیده
We demonstrate a simple self-referenced single-shot method for simultaneously measuring two different arbitrary pulses, which can potentially be complex and also have very different wavelengths. The method is a variation of cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating (XFROG) that we call double-blind (DB) FROG. It involves measuring two spectrograms, both of which are obtained simultaneously in a single apparatus. DB FROG retrieves both pulses robustly by using the standard XFROG algorithm, implemented alternately on each of the traces, taking one pulse to be “known” and solving for the other. We show both numerically and experimentally that DB FROG using a polarization-gating beam geometry works reliably and appears to have no nontrivial ambiguities. © 2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 320.0320, 320.7100.

Received April 16, 2012; accepted May 30, 2012; posted June 7, 2012 (Doc. ID 166837); published July 3, 2012 We experimentally demonstrate the ability of double blind frequency-resolved optical gating to simultaneously measure two independent pulses at very different wavelengths on a single shot. Our device uses polarization-gate geometry, allowing pulses at any two wavelengths and unlimited op...

We show that a simple (few-element) arrangement for wavelength-multiplexed digital holography allows the measurement of the electric field E x ,y , t of a femtosecond laser pulse on a single shot. A slightly rotated twodimensional diffractive optical element and a variable-wavelength filter together generate multiple spectrally resolved digital holograms that are simultaneously captured in a si...

We demonstrate the use of pulse-front tilt (PFT) in cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating (XFROG) implemented in polarization-gate geometry to measure arbitrary complex ultrashort pulses tens of picoseconds long on a single-camera frame with the potential for a single-shot measurement. The PFT is generated by a diffraction grating. We measured chirped double pulses separated by 4....
متن کاملSimultaneous measurement of two ultrashort laser pulses from a single spectrogram in a single shot
Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique that produces a spectrogram of an ultrashort laser pulse. The intensity and phase of the ultrashort laser pulse can be determined through solving for the phase of the spectrogram with an iterative, phase-retrieval algorithm. This work presents a new phase-retrieval algorithm that retrieves both the probe and the gate pulses independently b...
متن کاملMeasuring spatial chirp in ultrashort pulses using single-shot Frequency-Resolved Optical Gating.
We show that the spatio-temporal distortion, spatial chirp, is naturally and easily measured by single-shot versions of second-harmonic generation frequency-resolved optical gating (SHG FROG) (including the extremely simple version, GRENOUILLE);. While SHG FROG traces are ordinarily symmetrical, a pulse with spatial chirp yields a trace with a shear that is approximately twice the pulse spatial...
